Highland Woods was developed by Berkshire Fund, Inc. with strong support from Williams College. The project received $1 million in financing from the Affordable Housing Trust Fund (AHTF), which MassHousing manages on behalf of the state Department of Housing and Community Development (DHCD).
The 40 apartments, which are a mix of one and two-bedroom units, are contained in a three-story building and all the apartments are affordable through the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit Program. Eight of the units will also be affordable through a federal Section 8 Housing Assistance Payment contract. The construction entailed many energy efficient and green technologies.
In addition to AHTF and Tax Credit financing, the project received funding from DHCD, and the Town of Williamstown.
The architect was Dietz and Company Architects, Inc., the contractor was Allegrone Construction, Inc. and the consultant was Women’s Institute for Housing and Economic Development.
