MassHousing was recently recognized by the Commonwealth's Supplier Diversity Program for our outstanding achievement in procuring goods and services from certified minority and women business enterprises, or MBEs/WBEs. In FY'12, which ended June 30, MassHousing spent more than $1 million with minority- and women-owned vendors and contractors through our self-funded administrative budget. The Agency was also honored for exceeding our benchmark goal with women-owned businesses.
MassHousing has long been committed to ensuring equal access to the economic opportunities created by our work. Internally, we work diligently to engage MBEs and WBEs in obtaining the various goods and services involved in our operations. Through our Compliance & Diversity Department, we work with property management companies, developers and general contractors at the rental communities we finance and oversee to set and achieve goals for MBE/WBE participation.
In the 2012 fiscal year, which ended June 30, of the $250.3 million in construction contracts at MassHousing-financed-projects, $53.6 million (21.4%) went to MBEs and $37 million (14.8%) to WBEs. Of the $187.5 million in maintenance/operational expenditures at MassHousing rental communities, $36.7 million (19.6%) went to MBEs and $22.6 million (12%) to WBEs.
